What to Expect on Sundays
We would love for you to join us for one of our Sunday worship services! We trust you will be edified, educated, challenged, and filled with joy as we offer our service of worship to Christ and study His Word together.
What does a typical service look like?
Scripture Reading
1 Timothy 4:13 – give attention to the public reading of Scripture…
James 1:21 – receive the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
The congregation is called to worship through the reading of God’s Word. Scripture prepares our hearts to exalt the Lord and humbly receive the Word, which is able to save our souls.
Prayer
Colossians 4:2 – Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.
We humbly come before God in prayer when we gather to give Him honor and glory as we seek His face. Our prayers include petition, preparation, and praise, among others.
Expository Preaching
Nehemiah 8:8 – They read from the book, from the law of God, explaining and giving insight, and they provided understanding of the reading.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 – All Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, 17 so that the man of God may be equipped, having been thoroughly equipped for every good work.
2 Timothy 4:2 – preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and teaching.
Our pastor preaches exegetically, verse by verse, through books of the Bible with contemporary application for our lives, so that the people of God may be well equipped for every good work.
Singing Together
Colossians 3:16 – Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with gratefulness in your hearts to God.
Our congregational singing focuses on songs that exalt the Lord. Music is not for the purpose of entertainment, but glorifying Christ. We sing from the Psalms, theologically sound classic hymns of the faith, and contemporary hymnody.
Our goal as we sing together is to exalt God as we:
• Sing biblically sound music that will let God’s Word dwell in us richly
• Teach, admonish, and edify one another
• Gratefully sing and make melody in our hearts to the Lord.
The Ordinances
Acts 18:8 – And Crispus, the leader of the synagogue, believed in the Lord with all his household, and many of the Corinthians when they heard were believing and being baptized.
1 Corinthians 11:23-26 – the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was being betrayed took bread, 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until He comes.
We practice the two ordinances Christ gave us in our worship services, celebrating the Lord’s Table monthly and baptizing by immersion those who have trusted in Christ.
Giving Tithes & Offerings
2 Corinthians 9:7 – Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
While the majority of our congregation gives online, we pass offering plates as a reminder of God's providence upon our lives and the joy and privilege it is to give back to God a portion of what He has entrusted us with (2 Cor. 9:7).
Benediction and Doxology
We generally conclude the service with a traditional doxology (Eph. 3:20-21) or benediction (Numbers 6:24-26).
How Long is the Service?
The service generally lasts 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 hours.
