Your Analog Bible

I recently came across a short video of a pastor comparing a cell phone to a physical copy of the Bible. I’ve had several conversations recently about the amount of time we spend on our phones vs. in God’s Word. I’ve heard the phone vs. Bible comparison before, but this guy put it very well. I cant share it the video here (and I know nothing about the guy other than this short video), so I’ve taken his points, tweaked them a little, and offer them here for your edification.

I’ll be honest - this stung a little the first time I heard it - and yes - I’m going go be intentional to keep an Analog Bible with me now. I love the Analog Bible concept. I truly do appreciate all the digital bible resources we have today. I use a very complex bible study software program, and its quite helpful, but for my EDC (every day carry) - it’s hard to compete with an Analog Bible.

What if..

You carried your Analog Bible everywhere like you did your phone?

You opened it multiple times every day and read from it?

You read it as much, or more, as you did your phone?

You left home in the morning, realized you forgot it, and went back for it?

You felt lost without it?

You opened it first in an emergency?

What if you got messages from your Analog Bible?
(Oh, and you dont need to check to see who its from)

Your Analog Bible

Never loses signal.

Never freezes up.

Never needs to be plugged in or re-charged.
The bill has been paid in full! Forever!

Your Analog Bible is so much better than your phone.

Why do we seem to prefer our phone over our Analog Bible?

Yes, have a good Bible App on your phone. Use it to search for things. Use it as an audio Bible and listen as you drive around or work or what-have-you.

Lets hit the re-set button and re-commit ourselves to God’s Word by adding an Analog Bible to the stuff we just cant leave home without.

Grace & Peace

Pastor Rob

P.S. - I realize that phones are here to stay, and sometimes, the only Bible you might be able to read is the one on your phone. If thats the case READ IT!! I love the Analog Bible concept, but even more important is simply saturating yourself in Scripture. Be sure youre doing that whatever the fine details are.
