Scripture Is Sufficient

God’s Word is sufficient.

This time of year provides joy to those who can gather together with family, celebrating the holiday by expressing thankfulness for the blessings of life. Sorrow can be present among those who do not share this blessing. Each person’s situation this holiday season is unique. God’s grace to you is the exact measure of what you need and is His gift to you (Ephesians 4:7).

You can have peace this holiday season regardless of the trial or struggle that may be present (Colossians 3:15). This truth doesn’t discount the real hurt and pain which is the reality of living in a sinful and fallen world.

So how does a spirit of thankfulness relate to the sufficiency of God’s Word?

The answer:

"Sufficient" means having enough. When you find contentment in the truth of God’s Word, you can genuinely be thankful for the solutions the Bible provides. Gratitude naturally flows from a heart that is content.

All scripture is profitable for correcting, teaching, and training you to honor God (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Did you know, Christian, that God’s sufficient Word applies to more than just identifying sin and being taught or corrected?

If you are experiencing a loss of a loved one or friend, God is your refuge and your strength (Psalm 46:1).

If you have lost your job and don’t know where or when their next opportunity will come from, your heavenly father knows what you need (Matthew 6:32).

If you are suffering from sickness or disease, Christ hears your cries for help (Psalm 69:33) and wants you to come to Him for rest (Matthew 11:28).

The solutions found in God’s Word are endless because His grace is sufficient for us (2 Corinthians 12:9). This holiday season, lean into the grace that is a free gift to you. Submit yourself to God with your trials and struggles. Don’t let worldly influences direct you to believe God cannot help you change. Do not lean on secular psychology or man’s wisdom. Not only does God desire a relationship with you, He is ready and willing to walk with you through any problem that you face.

And such confidence we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but out sufficiency is from God, who also made us sufficient as ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life (2 Corinthians 3:4-6).
