Normal Christianity
What is “Normal Christianity?”
What is it we should strive for? Do we have a skewed view of what “normal” is when it comes to being a Christian, living the Christian life, engaging in the world, participating in the Body (we call it church membership - shameless plug, LOL!), reading the Bible, sharing the gospel, etc.
Sometimes, I think we have such a skewed view that what should actually be normal, we call “radical.” And truthfully, our obedience should be radical to the world. We should live, act, and think radically different from the world.
But still - what is “normal?”
Here are just a couple of thoughts here that were sparked by reading an email from our friend, pastor Todd at The Anchor.
Normal Christianity, basic behavior for the true and faithful believer includes:
Giving your life to ministry with a higher regard for others than self.
Serving sacrificially without expectation of some sort of return.
Serving with the joy of Christ, a sweet spirit, not annoyed that you have to do this.
Serving with an awareness that faithfulness means being reliable.
What a joy it is to serve alongside so many faithful servant-leaders. I’m so thankful for the sacrificial, steadfast, loving service that you bring.
May each one of us pursue the great joy of serving our Savior together, in the different ministries of our church, week in and week out. As we serve, we are painting a beautiful picture of our Savior’s servant heart and show not only the world, but also each other the joy of normal Christianity.
How are you serving Christ through His church?
Grace & Peace
Pastor Rob
